It was another disappointing night for the Humboldt Crabs on Thursday, as they fell 8-5 to the Potters in Lincoln to close out their first road trip of the summer.
After taking the opening game of this week’s Pacific Empire League series, the Crabs lost on back-to-back nights to drop to 1-2 in league and 13-2 overall.
The Potters gradually pulled away on Thursday, scoring runs in six of the first seven innings they went to bat and opening up an 8-2 lead going into the eighth.
The visitors would add three late runs for a more flattering score, but the damage had been done.
Last summer’s Crabs pitcher of the year, Myles Standish, got his first start of 2026 and threw three innings.
The former Eureka Logger gave up three earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out four.
Five other Crabs pitchers threw an inning in relief, and all but one — Spencer Jacobs — gave up at least one hit to a Potters team that racked up 13 hits in the win and out-hit the Crabs 36-20 over the three games.
Seven Crabs players had a hit in Thursday’s loss, including Kawana Soares, who finished 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.
With the win, the Potters improved to 17-1.
The Crabs will try to get back to winning ways when they open a three-game weekend series against the Stockton Pearls in non-league action on Friday night.
First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
