After playing a key role on the Loggers’ march to a league title in volleyball in the fall, Eureka senior Macy Secor will continue her playing career on the college courts after graduation this year.

And she’s staying local.

Last week, in front of a gathering of family, friends, teammates and coaches, Secor signed her letter of intent to play for College of the Redwoods.

CR head coach Macy Thomas is looking forward to working with the new recruit.

“She’s just a great kid with a great personality,” Thomas said. “And I’m really excited to see how her dynamic contributes to the team. I think she’ll be a great addition.”

Secor certainly has the talent to succeed at the next level after being named all-league as a senior.

According to Eureka High head coach Stephanie Napoleon, Secor was a key member of the 2025 championship team.

“Macy played all the way around for us,” Napoleon said. “She was a big part of us winning league last season and our success.”

According to the longtime Eureka coach, Secor is a “quiet leader who grounded everyone and who always knew how to lighten the mood in tense games with her humor.”

On the court, the Eureka senior was known for her impact serving as much as anything.

Asked what she likes most about the new recruit, Thomas pointed to her play at the service line.

“I like her overall power, especially on her serve,” the CR coach said. “She’s a very strong server, and in her offense she definitely has some power in her swing.

“She’ll be a great asset on our front row.”

That power was something the Loggers took full advantage of.

“She has a tough serve,” Napoleon said. “I made sure she was one of my first servers in the lineup.”

The Eureka coach added that Secor is “very coachable and a great teammate.”

She will join a CR team that featured six freshmen last year, including her former Eureka High teammate Anisha Mae Rechelluul.

And while Secor will be missed at Eureka, her high school coach believes she has what it takes to succeed at CR.

“We will miss her serve, hitting power and passing consistency in the back row,” Napoleon said. “I know she will do great at the next level and look forward to seeing her continue to succeed.”

CR finished 3-19 in 2025, including an 0-10 record in the Golden Valley Conference.
