Humboldt Crabs baseball

The Humboldt Crabs got their final Pacific Empire League series of the summer off to an impressive start at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night, comfortably getting the better of the Medford Rogues 12-5.

The home team came ready to play, scoring six runs over the first three innings to take command and they never trailed.

The Crabs out-hit the visitors 15-6, with all nine players in the starting lineup getting at least one base hit.

Kawana Soares led the way, finishing 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored.

The always dangerous Adam Enyart added a triple.

Jackson Kelly, who recently threw a no-hitter against the West Coast Kings, pitched 4.1 innings for the win.

The McKinleyville High graduate gave up three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Kelly is now 3-0 on the season.

Manoa Chapman (2-for-5), Alex Harrington (2-for-4 with an RBI) and Enyart (2-for-5) each also had multiple base hits in the win.

With the victory, the Crabs improved to 34-12 on the season and 12-11 in the PEL, while the Rogues dropped to 26-12 and 14-9.

The two clubs will continue their three-game series at the Arcata Ball Park on Saturday night, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
