The Del Norte Senior All-Stars continued their impressive start to the Regional Tournament in Oakland on Thursday morning, posting a second win in two days.

One day after opening tournament play with an 11-1 win over the Wyoming state champs, the young Del Norte players got the better of the Nevada state champs 8-0.

Pitchers Taylor Shrewsberry and Michael Mavris combined on the mound for the shutout victory and they got plenty of help from the Del Norte defense, which played errorless ball.

While the Del Norte pitchers gave up just four hits all game, the team bats racked up 10 hits, including a big day for Shrewsberry.

The young standout capped a big all-around game with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Mavris and Jaxon Sharp each also finished with multiple hits.. 

Aidyn Nelson also had two walks for Del Norte, while teammate Carver Overlin added an RBI double to highlight a five-run second inning.

Overlin finished with two RBIs for Del Norte, as did Lucas Fox.

Shrewsberry pitched the opening 3,1 innings and gave up just two hits and one walk while striking out three.

Mavris took over in the fourth and closed out the game, giving up just one hit and no walks and striking out two

The Del Norte base running also impressed, as the young All-Stars stole eight bases, led by Nelson, Mavris and Sharp, who each had multiple stolen bases.

After posting back-to-back wins to open tournament play, the Del Norte players will have Friday off before returning to the field on Saturday.
