College of the Redwoods

No joy for the Corsairs at Ohlone

The Corsairs opened a busy weekend on the softball fields with a pair of losses at Ohlone on Friday.

College of the Redwoods lost 6-4 and 4-1.

Lindsey Scott pitched both games, allowing seven hits and one walk in a close opener.

Sadie Wilkinson led a seven-hit CR performance at the plate finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Amy Reyes, Grace Rosebrook, Karyn Jensen, Jaycee Morais and Paige Johnson each also had a hit in the opening loss.

Jensen provided the CR highlight in the nightcap, blasting a solo home run to give her team the lead in the top of the second.

The home team, however, answered right back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning, before breaking the deadlock with another run in the fourth.

The Renegades added two insurance runs in the sixth.

Wilkinson and Shawnau Johnson rounded out a three-hit performance for the CR women, who are now 7-6 on the season.

The Corsairs play a doubleheader at San Jose on Saturday.
