Fortuna, Del Norte games to be broadcast live

By Ray Hamill — Seven of the 10 local teams still alive in the North Coast Section basketball playoffs will have to travel for weekend games, with two of those games being broadcast locally on the radio.

In Division-IV boys action, Del Norte plays University at Kezar Pavillion at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and the game will be aired locally on KPOD 97.9 FM, as well as through the Del Norte Sports website, with Mad Dog Horner calling the plays.

In Division-IV girls action, meanwhile, Fortuna travels to play at Marin Catholic, also at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the game will be aired on MIX 95.1 FM, as well as through their website, with Tag Wotherspoon and Tom Chapman calling the action.

In other boys games on Saturday night, Eureka plays at Piedmont and Arcata plays at Marin Catholic, while in girls action St. Bernard’s plays at Saint Mary’s and Ferndale plays at Calistoga.

All four of those games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Three boys teams will host their games on Saturday night, with all three showdowns also getting under way at 7 p.m.

St. Bernard’s hosts Credo, Ferndale hosts Emery and South Fork hosts San Francisco Waldorf.

On Friday, the Eureka girls travel to play Campolindo.
