Local youths interested in trying lacrosse for the first time will get the opportunity at a series of upcoming Cal Poly Humboldt clinics.
The local university club program will host the clinics free of charge for kids aged 6-16 and for players of all skill levels.
Longtime CPH coach Tony Silvaggio and his experienced college players will teach the fundamentals in what they describe as “a fun, supportive environment—covering passing, shooting, teamwork, and game basics.”
The clinics will take place on five separate Sundays — Nov. 2, 9 and 16 and Dec. 7 and 14 — at the campus field house from 1 to 3 p.m. each day.
This is the third year the Humboldt club team has offered the free clinics.
“We are trying to get youth lacrosse going here on the north coast, and give youth another sport opportunity,” Silvaggio said.
“Discover why lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country and experience the excitement of this fast-paced game firsthand.
“Come learn, play, and make new friends. Everyone is welcome, just bring your energy and enthusiasm.”
