The Cal Poly Humboldt community will gather to honor the life and legacy of longtime head athletic trainer Shannon Childs this Sunday.
A celebration of life will be held on campus at the Redwood Bowl, beginning at 11 a.m.
Childs tragically passed away earlier this summer.
According to a press release announcing the Celebration of Life, “Shannon dedicated his career to the health, well-being, and success of Lumberjack student-athletes, leaving a lasting impact on generations of athletes, coaches, colleagues, students, and friends.
“His compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to those he served made him a cherished member of the Cal Poly Humboldt family.
“Family, friends, alumni, former student-athletes, and members of the campus and local community are invited to come together to celebrate Shannon’s remarkable life, share memories, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.”
A shuttle will run from the G15 parking lot on the corner of 14th and Union street to the Redwood Bowl.
Following the celebration, there will be a gathering at Six Rivers Brewery, where all are welcome to share stories, memories and continue to honor Childs.
