Crabs drop series decider against Prune Packers, get set for Potters

The Healdsburg Prune Packers won Thursday’s rubber game against the Crabs, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first on the way to a 10-5 victory.

The loss was the second in three games against Healdsburg this week for the Crabs, who dropped to 13-2 overall and 1-2 in the Pacific Empire League.

The Prune Packers improved to 9-1 and 2-1.

The Crabs started fast and took a two-run lad in the top of the first inning, but the home team would quickly take control after that and led 10-2 after four innings.

Four different Crabs players had multiple hits in the loss, including Jacob Pappas who finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Cameron Sewell, Tyler Howard and Adam Enyart each also had two hits in the loss.

Keenan Morris was 1-for-5 and stretched his hitting streak to five straight games.

The former Eureka Logger is enjoying a good season in the lead-off spot and has hit successfully in 11 of his last 12 games.

Peter Caldera got the start on the mound for the Crabs and took the loss.

Caldera threw four innings and gave up 10 hits.

The Crabs will continue a challenging road trip with three games against the Potters in Lincoln, with game one set for Friday night at 7:05 p.m.

The red-hot Potters have won 14 straight games and are 16-1 on the season.
