Cayden Lee enjoyed a big weekend playing for Simpson University, as the Red Hawks stretched their winning streak in baseball to six straight games with a three-game sweep of Caltech.
The former St. Bernard’s Crusader, who was a part of the Little 4 school’s NorCal championship team in 2022, homered twice in Saturday’s series finale, helping to lead the Hawks to a 12-0 win.
Simpson also won 11-3 and 15-5, improving to 18-18 on the season.
Lee, who played at Umpqua Community College out of high school before joining the Red Hawks, has played a key role for his team this season.
He is hitting .279 with 11 doubles and five home runs, the latter of which is second best on the team.
The 2022 SB graduate also has 29 RBIs, also second best on the team.
And he has played a big role in the Red Hawks’ recent surge that has seen them win eight of their last nine games.
Lee has hit successfully in seven of his last eight games, including going 3-for-4 in Saturday’s shutout victory with the two home runs, three RBIs and three runs.
It was his third three-hit game of the year.
Lee and the Red Hawks will try to make it seven straight wins when they open a three-game series at Westcliff University in Irvine on Friday.
Simpson is an NAIA school.
