The Little 4 MVP and finalist for Humboldt Sports Player of the Year has been named to the website’s Division 5/6 all-state first team, it was announced on Friday.

He was one of just 16 players from around the state included and one of just four juniors.

The 6-4 guard helped lead the Crusaders to an undefeated conference campaign, a North Coast Section title and a NorCal championship.

He averaged 29 points a game in conference play, as well as nine rebounds and two steals.

He also shot an impressive 47 percent from 3-point range, showcasing his impressive all-around game.

And he has earned the respect of his coaches, teammates and opposing players.

“Liam is a multifaceted player who could shoot from the outside and can post up with his 6-foot-4 frame,” St. Bernard’s head coach Issac Gildea said after he was named conference MVP. “His basketball IQ is incredible and he always makes his teammates better.”

And that’s not all he brings to the table.

“(Dyer is) one of the hardest workers with great determination, even while having the opponents’ best defender on him every game,” Gildea added of the young standout, who has been a varsity player since his freshman year. “(His) love for the game really can be seen by everyone that watches him play.”

With their NorCal championship, which was as far as they could go in the postseason and a de facto state championship, Dyer and his teammates became the first-ever H-DNL team to win conference, section and NorCal titles in the same season.

Dyer was the only local player to be honored on the CalHiSports all-state teams.
