Eureka’s Andrew Stewart closed out the 2024 boys golf season with his best showing of the spring at Monday’s North Coast Section Division-I championships.

Playing at Tilden Park Golf Course in Berkeley, Stewart was one of seven local golfers to qualify for the prestigious tournament and paced the H-DNL field with a round of 79.

Six golfers from the league champion Eureka boys team made the trip for the D-I tournament.

In addition to Stewart, Julian Goodman also impressed for the Loggers with a round of 81, while league champion Talon Vigil shot an 83.

Eureka’s Wyatt Zerlang (91), Ryan Pleasant (101) and Jerome Lyons (102) also made the trip for the Loggers.

Several other H-DNL boys competed at last week’s NCS Division-2 championships at Peacock Gap Golf Course in San Rafael, including St. Bernard’s Jack Kramer, who finished second to Vigil in this year’s league.

Kramer led the way for the H-DNL boys at the D-2 tournament and shot a 73 to qualify for the Division-1 tournament along with the contingent of Loggers.

Kramer, who was the only H-DNL individual to advance to the D-1 tournament, shot an 84 at Tilden Park.

The Arcata boys, who placed second as a team to the Loggers in this year’s H-DNL, had five golfers compete at Peacock Gap last week.

Mason Alway led the way for the Tigers with a round of 80, followed by Zayne Morris-Slattery (82), Joaquin Ponce Pereira (87), Lucas Wimberly (89) and Brenden Mosher (94).

McKinleyville’s Jake Gardner also impressed at Peacock Gap and had the second best round of the H-DNL contingent with a 76, which was just two strokes off the cut for the Division-1 tournament, while Fortuna’s Dawson McWhorter had the next best round for the H-DNL with a 78.

Rounding out the local golfers to make the trip last week, McKinleyville’s Carter Reeves shot an 86 and Del Norte’s Kai Russell shot an 88.

De La Sale’s Josh Kim won the Division-1 tournament with a round of 67, while also leading his school to the team title.
