The McKinleyville girls golf team capped off a memorable season with another strong showing at the North Coast Section Division-I championships on Monday.
Playing at Tilden Park Golf Course in Berkeley, junior Phoebe Sundberg shot an impressive 79 to pace the Panthers, seven strokes off the wining score.
Senior Molly Citro was next best for Mack, shooting an 84, while the third member of the team to qualify for the prestigious event, Isabella Sundberg, shot an 88.
Amador Valley’s Charlotte Ryoo shot a 72 to take the individual title, while Dougherty Valley won the team competition.
The three McKinleyville golfers qualified for the event after each placed in the top 15 at the Division-II championships a week ago, earning the Panthers their second consecutive NCS team title.
Arcata’s Avery Henry was the only other local golfer to qualify, shooting a 93 to cap off her impressive season.
The McKinleyville girls are this week’s Humboldt Sports Team of the Week.
