By Ray Hamill — There was a packed field of worthy candidates for this week’s Humboldt Sports Athlete of the Week honors, across the board in just about every sport, and from just about every local school.
But two Eureka stars — Klayre Barres and Tyce Mullins — stood out a little more than their peers, as much for what they have achieved all season, as for what they did this past week, with each playing a major role in their respective teams’ undefeated campaigns.
Likewise for Team of the Week, there were some worthy candidates, but the McKinleyville girls golf team stood out, achieving an historic first for this area.
