The St. Bernard’s girls continued to take care of business in the Little 4 on Friday night with a comfortable 69-39 win at Hoopa.

With the win, which was their eighth in nine games, the Crusaders improved to 3-0 in conference and 15-5 on the season.

Also in the Little 4 on Friday, the Ferndale girls kept the pressure on the leaders and remained in the chase for the conference title with a 45-3 win at South Fork.

With their win, the Wildcats improved to 2-1 in conference and 13-7 overall.

Samantha Sundberg had a big game for the SB girls and scored a game-high 22 points, while Carli Baum added 12 points and CJ Figas finished with nine points.

The Crusaders wasted little time taking control, opening up a commanding 45-18 lead at halftime, and after that there was no way back for the home team.

Macie Wantt and Paula Bullock each added six points in the win, while Tally Williams chipped in five points, as all 10 SB players got plenty of playing time.

“Everybody contributed to the victory,” St. Bernard’s head coach Matt Tomlin said.

No stats were immediately available for the Warriors, who dropped to 1-2 in the Little 4 and 7-13 overall.

Next up, the Crusaders will make the short trip across town to play Eureka in non-conference showdown on Saturday night at 6 p.m., while the Hoopa girls will continue conference play at South Fork next Thursday.

At South Fork, meanwhile, the Wildcats made it two straight conference wins to keep their championship hopes alive ahead of next week’s home game against the Little 4 leaders.

Michaela Ellsmore scored a game-high 12 points in the win, while Tinnley Pidgeon added nine points and Gianna Regli chipped in eight.

With the game well in hand early, Ferndale head coach Chris Ardrey used the occasion to give some of his bench players some playing time and several of them impressed.

Teresa Catana scored six points, while Quinn Stokesberry added four points.

Claire Renner and Becky Gallardo each also impressed for the visitors.

Next up, South Fork plays at Hayfork on Monday, while the Ferndale girls will host St. Bernard’s in a pivotal L4 showdown next Thursday.
