The Eureka boys got their first win of the season in their first league game of the season.
The Loggers hosted South Fork in soccer on Wednesday and won 3-0, improving to 1-0 in the H-DNL and 1-3 overall.
Lucas Ask scored twice in the win, with Cooper Munson also finding the back of the net, as the Loggers came out strong and kept their focus throughout the 80 minutes.
“We started our league season on a positive note and kept our intensity high,” Eureka head coach Tommy Learmouth said. “Finishing continues to be something we need to work on as we had plenty of quality chances but struggled to find the back of the net.”
D’Alessandro Medina also impressed in the win and assisted on two of Eureka’s goals, with Landon Larson assisting on the other.
The shutout was the first of the season for Eureka goalkeeper Mason Beauchamp and his defense.
Greyden Larson, Kyan Green, Luiz Gonzalez and Mansoor Khan led the strong defensive performance.
“Our back line played exceptionally well in difficult conditions,” said Learmouth, who added “Mason Beauchamp was commanding in goal.”
Fresh off a big summer playing baseball for the Humboldt Eagles, Bryce Pope also impressed his coach.
“It’s always a tough game matching South Fork’s intensity and I thought we maintained good intensity throughout the match,” Learmouth said.
No details were immediately available for South Fork, which dropped to 1-4.
