A busy week for the District 26 All-Star championship teams got off to a good start.
One of four local teams playing this week, the McKinleyville Junior League All-Stars clinched their Section championship in Yuba City on Wednesday night.
The Mack All-Stars capped a perfect 3-0 run through the tournament with a 12-2 win over tournament hosts Westside Maxwell.
The win was McKinleyville’s second over Westside Maxwell in three days.
The Mack All-Stars will now advance to the upcoming NorCal state tournament in San Jose.
No other details of Wednesday’s win were immediately available.
Three other local All-Star teams will also be in action at their Section tournaments this weekend.
Closer to home, the Eel River 8-10 All-Stars will get to host their Section tournament, which begins on Friday.
The young Eel River players, who also hosted their District tournament last month, will open the four-team tournament against Central Chico at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The tournament, which takes place at Firemen’s Park in Ferndale, will also feature East Redding and Sutter Buttes.
The McKinleyville 12-year-old All-Stars and the Redwood Empire 11-year-old All-Stars will both also be in action at their Section tournaments in Chico, which both begin this weekend.
