The Eureka Loggers are getting some big contributions from a lot of different players as they continue to build momentum ahead of next week’s conference opener in boys basketball.

On Saturday, the Loggers hosted Kelseyville and won 59-51.

Senior Will Mooney was instrumental in the win once again, turning in a big first-half performance to help get his team going.

According to Eureka assistant coach Andrew DeHart, Mooney “really helped to keep us in it in the first half” with 13 points over the first two quarters, and he also played some great defense.

Mooney finished the game with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Fellow senior Elijah Estrada also impressed in the second half of the win, which was the Loggers’ fifth straight.

“Elijah kept us grounded offensively, staying aggressive driving to the hole,” DeHart said.

Estrada finished with 18 points and had nine rebounds.

Owen Hiscox also continued to impress off the bench for the Loggers and gave his team a big boost with two huge 3-pointers late in the third quarter and early in the fourth, which helped the Loggers maintain their lead.

“He just shot lights out and we’re really proud of his contribution today,” DeHart said after the game.

Hiscox finished with eight points.

Overall, the coaches were happy with the team performance as the Eureka boys improved to 9-1.

“We continue to piece together these wins and turning in some gutty performances,” DeHart added. “They were a tough team.”

Next up, the Loggers play at the Enterprise tournament, tipping off against Mt. Shasta on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
