The Fortuna Huskies suffered their third straight loss in football on Saturday, falling 62-28 at St. Vincent de Paul in Petaluma.

The visitors fell behind on the opening play from scrimmage when St. Vincent’s Mason Caturegli took advantage of some impressive blocking and ran 64 yards to the end zone for the opening score of the game.

And after that there was no way back for the Huskies, who were no match for the No. 24 team in the North Coast Section and defending state champs.

With the loss, Fortuna dropped to 2-4 on the season.

The Mustangs would add two more touchdowns before the first quarter was over and led 42-6 at halftime.

The Huskies would grow into the game and added three second-half TDs.

Senior quarterback Jake Houseworth, who missed much of the early season through injury, had his best game yet.

The Cal commit rushed for 123 yards on 17 carries and scored four rushing touchdowns.

Houseworth also completed 3 of 11 passes for 86 yards, accounting for 209 of his team’s 257 total offensive yards.

The junior running back tandem of Mako Limon and Kavi Bolden ran for 52 yards combined, while Hunter Reback had one reception for 55 yards and Tim Still had two catches for 31 yards.

The Huskies will try to get back to winning ways when they hit the road for a fourth straight week next Friday, playing the Silverado Hawks in Victorville.

St. Vincent de Paul improved to 4-1 with Saturday’s win.
