Eighth-graders continue to impress for Wild Cactus Baseball

Multiple eighth-graders continued to impress for Wild Cactus Baseball on Friday, as they swept a doubleheader from the Southern Humboldt Patriots.

Wild Cactus won game one 13-2 in five innings and took game two 9-1 in five innings.

Eighth-grades Kaiwi Sharp and Teyler Bailey got the wins on the mound, while some of their teammates also impressed at the plate.

I was super impressed with the performance of our young kids today,” head coach Matt Tomlin said.

Sharp threw three innings on his way to the victory and allowed two runs while striking out five.

Another eighth-grader, Mason Long, threw two scoreless innings to close out the game and struck out three.

Brody Gaser led the Wild Cactus bats at the plate in the opener and was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.

Bailey pitched three innings for the win in game two.

He gave up one run and struck out four.

Dakota Bestul pitched two scoreless innings in relief and struck out five.

Wild Cactus Baseball will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, when they host a doubleheader against Brookings.
