The Humboldt Crabs will carry some momentum into this week’s Pacific Empire League openers after stretching their winning streak to seven straight games over the weekend.

After taking the series opener on Friday night by a score of 13-4, the Crabs followed that with a 19-3 win on Saturday afternoon and an 8-6 win on Sunday to secure the series sweep.

With the three wins, the Crabs are now 10-2 on the summer.

They will now turn their attention to this week’s Pacific Empire League openers, as they get set to play in a league for the first time in over a decade.

They open the newly-formed conference on the road, playing three games at the Lincoln Potters on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and following that with a trip to play three games at the Healdsburg Prune Packers this weekend.

The Crabs bats continued to impress against the Knicks.

On Saturday, they scored their 19 runs on 19 hits and eight walks, with eight of the nine players in the lineup finishing with multiple hits.

The hard-hitting Javier Felix continued to impress at the plate and provided the offensive highlight of the game with his team-leading fourth home run of the summer.

Billy Ham and Keoni Coloma each finished with three hits in the win, including a double each.

Troy Harding had a triple and Colin Callahan had two doubles as the Crabs racked up seven extra-base hits.

The Crabs overcome an early one-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the first and would add 14 more runs over the next three innings on the way to ending the game after seven innings.

Former St. Bernard’s Crusader Caleb Ruiz got the win on the mound.

In his fourth summer with the Crabs, Ruiz threw four innings, allowing seven hits and three walks and striking out six.

Eureka’s Hayden Bode threw three strong innings in relief, giving up just two hits and no walks and striking out four.

Sunday’s game was closer, but the Crabs would hold on for the win after putting up seven runs in the bottom of the second to take control.

This time around, the Crabs had seven hits, including two each by Jett Ruby and Victor Castaneda.

Nolan Long threw four innings for the win on the hill, allowing five hits and two walks in four innings and striking out two.
