  1. [Fees are $140 per player and $130 for siblings and limited financial assistance is available on a first come, first served basis.]

Holy RECREATIONAL Batman…when I ran Arcata soccer after Dan Elias and before Laura Middlemiss, the registration fee was $35 per season if memory serves, while travel team players/families paid more. The sibling $10 credit is BULLSHIT!

Plus, As a Board, we had a waiver for economically challenged families so their child could participate (used donations to cover at last check).

The league was just one, HYSL, but then fighting adults created their separation leagues. Soccer is worse off locally for the past decisions that were anti- “The Beautiful Game”. Plus, the volunteers involved have seemingly become vastly more hostile, or just plane dumb, both.

Thinking forward, for $140 per player, @ 8 games = 17.50 per game…well, I certainly as an adult would not pay that fee if fields are not set-up properly, not 11 versus 11, and a 3 referee crew is not provided…and, not without a guarantee of all 8 games without forfeits or cancellations…

…paying for less than the whole experience is not what I call “a good immersion decision”…

Water for soccer fields has not caused a $35 fee go to $140 per player, at a clip rate of increasing such fee, on average, of $3.50 per season.

Further, game fees…what are the roster sizes… reducing roster sizes just to field more teams is an asinine maneuver that financially is a no-no… for a 3 ref crew, each game, 1 player’s registration fee should cover the cost of 3 officials…so each game leaves a reduced number of player’s registration fees untouched.

Lastly, going away from 11 versus 11 for the U12 and below was a foolish decision by woke-types too lazy to teach the game properly, using the guise position more kids get to play by creating more teams with smaller rosters…

I concluded years ago, too many wavering people in some capacity/charge of soccer responsibilities could not walk a dog on a leash if they tried…and saboteurs of the sport are a whole other discussion.
