Two days after officially clinching another Little 4 championship in girls basketball, the Crusaders capped a perfect league campaign with a 64-34 win over Ferndale at St. Bernard’s on Thursday night.
The SB girls took control early and never let the momentum slip, opening up a 17-9 lead after the opening quarter and stretching the advantage to 15 by halftime.
With the win, the Crusaders closed out conference play 6-0 and improved to 21-3 on the season.
Also in the Little 4 on Thursday night, the Warriors secured a tie for second with an 84-25 win over South Fork in Hoopa.
The Warriors and Wildcats finished with identical 3-3 records in conference play and advanced to next week’s Dick Niclai tournament.
Hoopa and Ferndale will face off at Ferndale in the opening round of the tournament on Monday, while St. Bernard’s receives the No. 1 seed and will have an opening-round bye.
Laila Florvilus led the way for the Crusaders and finished with a game-high 19 points in Thursday’s win, while Madelyn Shanahan added 15 points.
A total of 11 different St. Bernard’s players scored in the win, as head coach Matt Tomlin went deep to his bench.
Rihanna Fontenot added seven points, while Sahara Tupua scored five and Samantha Sundberg, Makinsey Lemley, Kayla Maples and Brittyn Ikea each had three points.
No stats were available for Ferndale.
At Hoopa, meanwhile, the Warriors comfortably took care of business against the Cubs and improved to 11-8 overall.
Tashee Tracy scored a game-high 25 points for Hoopa, while Maggie Morris added nine points, all of them in the second quarter.
Tahlia Booth also scored nine and Wau’Kel Blake finished with seven points.

For South Fork, senior Caidence Young had another big game and finished with a team-high 14 points, while Raelyn Hawkins chipped in six points.
Young is enjoying an outstanding senior campaign with the team and continues to lead the way for her younger teammates.
“Caidence had an exceptional night,” South Fork head coach Rebecca Robles said. “She was everywhere. Her defense was the best I’ve ever seen her play.”
The Cubs closed out conference play 0-6 and are 9-11 overall.
The South Fork girls are ranked No. 7 in North Coast Section Division 6 and will find out their playoff seed a week from Sunday.
“The girls played well as a team,” Robles said. “I’m really excited to see what they can do in the playoffs.”
