Keenan Morris returned to the North Coast this week to help the Redding Tigers secure a series split with the Humboldt Crabs.
The former Eureka Logger hit an RBI single on Wednesday night to help key a four-run second inning, as the Tigers pulled out a 7-3 win to end the Crabs’ 11-game winning streak.
The Crabs took the series opener on Tuesday night, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a late tie and holding on for a 5-2 victory.
The consistent Morris finished 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI on Tuesday and was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and a run on Wednesday.
Arcata’s Jaden Gorge also played for the Tigers in Tuesday’s game.
Marcelo Saldana of the Crabs pitched six innings for the win on Tuesday, allowing three hits and five walks and striking out five.
Kevin Fitzer led the way at the plate and finished 3-for-4 with a triple.
Another former Eureka Logger, Jackson Giacone, had a good night for the Crabs in Wednesday’s loss and finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
The Crabs, who are now 19-9 on the season, will try to get back on track when they open a three-game series against the West Coast Kings at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night at 7 p.m.
The two clubs will also play on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., before closing out the series on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
