Humboldt Eagles 19Us close out busy week in Medford

The Humboldt Eagles 19Us completed their annual Oregon road trip with two more games at the Medford tournament over the weekend, defeating the Fairfield Expos 5-2 on Saturday and falling 7-5 to the host team in the third-place game on Sunday.

The local American Legion club travelled with just 13 of their 18 players and closed out the five-day road trip an impressive 4-2 record.

Cole Ayala had a big weekend, pitching 6.2 strong innings and allowing just one earned run for the win on Saturday.

Matt Letter got the final out for the save.

Vincent Agliolo led the way at the plate and finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Letter was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk and a hit-by-pitch to reach base all three times he went to bat.

Ayala also had a double, while Mason Nichols was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

With the win, the Eagles placed second in their bracket and qualified for Sunday’s third-place game.

Ethan Pesch pitched five solid innings in the loss, with Jared Dixon throwing one scoreless inning in relief.

Agliolo remained hot at the plate and finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Ayala was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Regan Nyberg also was 1-for-3, while Rylan Lommori had an RBI.

The Eagles will hit the road for a five-day, nine-game road trip to Siskiyou, Trinity and Reno later this week.
