Former Arcata standout Jaden Gorge has wasted little time adapting to the collegiate baseball fields, having an immediate impact at Shasta College.

The Knights, who feature a large contingent of former H-DNL players, are off to a 1-4 start to the new season, and will try to build some momentum when they host Skyline on Thursday.

Gorge, however, has been solid early, batting .250 with a .455 on base percentage.

The former Tiger, who played a key role in Arcata’s 2019 North Coast Section championship win, has been disciplined at the plate, drawing five walks and just one strikeout, leading his team in both categories.

Former Fortuna standout Cody Emmons also is with the team and also has played in all five games.

Former Eureka Logger Brady Munson has seen limited action in three games for the Knights out of the bullpen, tossing 2.1 hitless innings to begin his college career.

Arcata’s Austin Kadle and Del Norte’s Cole Harper and Ryan Janeiro round out the local contingent on this year’s Shasta team.
