The Del Norte girls remained in the chase for a place in next week’s Dick Niclai tournament with a 46-38 win over Arcata in Crescent City on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 3-4 in the Big 5 with one game remaining, and a victory at McKinleyville on Friday night would leave them in either a two- or three-way tie for second.

Jadence Clifton was huge in Wednesday’s win, pulling down a remarkable 20 rebounds, to go with 25 points and four assists.

She wasn’t the only Del Norte player to impress on the boards, with Selene Ledezma finishing with 15 rebounds and Kirsten Brous with 13 rebounds.

“There were a lot of rebounds out there tonight,” Del Norte head coach Justin Clifton said.

Ledezma and Olivia Stilwell each chipped in five points.

For the Arcata girls, who dropped to 3-4 in the Big 5 but still have everything to play for in their finale at home to Fortuna on Friday, Grace Talty scored a team-high 11 points.

Zoie Andre added eight points, Jocelyn Bliven six and Olivia Railsback five.
