In a game that featured seven home runs, the Humboldt Crabs had no answer for the Prune Packer bats on Tuesday night, as they dropped their series opener in Healdsburg.

The home team out-hit the Crabs 17-4, including five home runs, and pulled away late on the way to a 10-3 win.

With the win, the Prune Packers solidified their lead in the Pacific Empire League and improved to 11-2 in league and 22-3 overall.

The Crabs remain second in the standings with a record of 11-4 (27-5 overall) and still have three more PEL wins than any of the other league teams.

The Crabs led early in Tuesday’s game, but the Prune Packers wasted no time responding, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first to take a lead they would not relinquish.

The game, however, remained tight with just three runs separating the two teams until the seventh when the home side added five runs to its rally to pull away.

The three runs for the Crabs matched the team’s season low.

Five different players homered for Healdsburg.

Jaden Shabry and Jamie Mullin each hit a home run for the Crabs, while Tyler Howard added a triple.

Adam Enyart got the start on the mound for the Crabs, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits and no walks in 3.1 innings and striking out one.

Three Crabs errors didn’t help matters.

The two clubs will continue their three-game series on Wednesday night, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on the Crabs YouTube page and broadcast on local radio at ESPN 107.3 FM, and 1340 AM.
