
The 2011 Lumberjacks football team will highlight this year’s Cal Poly Humboldt Hall of Fame class, which features two memorable teams and seven accomplished individuals.
The Cal Poly Humboldt athletics department announced the 2026 class on Thursday morning, and the new class will be inducted into the hall of fame at a ceremony on Oct. 9.
This year’s class also includes the 1996 women’s soccer team, as well as Sue Simon, Teigan Eilers, Kori Gilley, David Kulp, Mike Morey, Ariel Oliver and Kayley Weber.
The 2011 football team enjoyed one of the most memorable seasons in Humboldt football history, capturing the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship while finishing with a 9-1 overall record and with a No. 13 national ranking.
The Lumberjacks defeated Division-I UC Davis 23-16 during the Aggies’ homecoming game and later defeated Central Washington in a nationally featured CBS Sports Network Division-II Game of the Week matchup in front of an overflow crowd of 8,000 fans inside the Redwood Bowl.
Humboldt closed the season by avenging its lone loss of the year with a dominant 38-7 victory over Western Oregon in front of more than 6,000 fans to secure the GNAC title.
1996 Women’s Soccer Team
The 1996 women’s soccer team etched its place in program history during just the second season of Cal Poly Humboldt women’s soccer. The Lumberjacks finished the year with an 11-4-5 overall record and a 5-2-3 mark in the Northern California Athletic Conference, finishing second in the conference standings.
The team became the first in program history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and remains the only women’s soccer team in school history to win an NCAA Tournament match, defeating UC Davis 1-0 in the opening round.
Sue Simon, Athletics Secretary (1988-2011)
Simon served Humboldt Athletics for more than two decades as the department’s athletics secretary from 1988 through 2011.
Known for her dedication, compassion and tireless work ethic, Simon positively impacted generations of student-athletes while serving in countless roles that helped support the success of Humboldt athletics.
Teigan Eilers, Track and Field (2012-2017)
Eilers became one of the premier multi-event athletes in school history during his career with the Lumberjacks.
An NCAA All-American in the decathlon, Eilers won the 2015 CCAA championship and finished conference runner-up in 2017.
He graduated as the school record holder in the decathlon while also ranking among the program’s top-10 performers across multiple events.
Kori Gilley, Cross Country/Track and Field (2013-2017)
Gilley emerged as one of the top distance runners in Cal Poly Humboldt history.
Gilley earned second team All-American honors in 2017 and was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week while also collecting All-Region and USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
She captured the 2014 CCAA cross country championship and was named the conference Runner of the Year.
A standout in the classroom as well, Gilley graduated with a GPA above 3.5 and earned Academic All-CCAA recognition.
She still holds program records in the 1500 meters and 3000m steeplechase.
David Kulp, Football (2011-2013)
Kulp anchored the Lumberjack offensive line during one of the most successful eras in program history.
Kulp earned tirst-team All-GNAC honors in 2012 and second-team recognition in 2011 and 2013.
A member of the 2011 GNAC championship team, he also served as a team captain during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Mike Morey, Swimming/Water Polo (1967-1969)
Morey earned All-American honors three times during his standout career in swimming and water polo from 1967 through 1969.
A two-time first-team All-Far Western Conference selection in 1967 and 1968, Morey also served as team captain during the 1968-69 seasons and helped establish a strong foundation for Humboldt aquatics.
Ariel Oliver, Track and Field (2016-2017)
A two-time NCAA All-American in discus, Oliver quickly established herself as one of the top throwers in program history.
Oliver earned CCAA Newcomer of the Year honors and captured conference championships in discus in both 2016 and 2017 while also winning the 2016 shot put title and finishing runner-up in 2017. She graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt holding school records in both discus and shot put.
Kayley Weber, Rowing (2012-2015)
Kayley Weber helped lead Cal Poly Humboldt rowing to national prominence as a Varsity Eight rower.
A two-time All-American in 2014 and 2015, Weber also earned First-Team All-WIRA honors in 2014.
She played a key role in the Lumberjacks’ 2014 national championship crew and helped the team secure a third-place national finish in 2015.
The location and time for the 2026 Hall of Fame Ceremony & Dinner will be announced at a later date.
