By Ray Hamill — The H-DNL boys soccer teams will take a break from league play this weekend as they get set to compete in the 2026 annual McKinleyville Invitational Soccer Tournament.

The two-day tournament kicks off on Friday and features eight schools, including six from the H-DNL.

The action gets under way with a pair of games at 3:30 p.m., followed by two more games at 5:30 p.m.

Each game will feature 30-minute halves.

Each team is guaranteed three games as they continue to build momentum early in the new season.

A busy tournament schedule on Saturday will include eight games, with the championship showdown set for 3 p.m.

The opening round sees Fortuna play Ferndale and Del Norte against Fort Bragg, both at 3:30 p.m.

Later on Friday, Arcata will play rival Eureka and the host Panthers will play Upper Lake.

The winners of Friday’s games will advance to Saturday’s semifinals.
