The Eureka Loggers went down fighting over the weekend, as a memorable season on the volleyball courts came to an end.
After posting their first playoff win in two decades last week, the Big 5 champions traveled to play Kelseyville in the North Coast Section Division-4 quarterfinals on Saturday night and fell 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 25- 22.
All three of their set losses were by three or fewer points.
“I am really proud of this team and how far they came winning league and making it to the quarterfinals, which were both huge accomplishments,” Eureka head coach Stephanie Napoleon said. “They gave it their all (on Saturday night), never gave up and kept fighting.”
Tiarah Maualuga closed out a very impressive season with another big showing at Kelseyville.
The junior standout finished with 17 kills and two blocks.
Fellow junior Alena Battle also impressed for the visitors, much as she has been doing all season long, and finished with a double-double.
Battle had 14 kills and 10 blocks.
Senior Macy Secor had a good all-around game in her final high school appearance and finished with 11 digs, seven kills and two aces, while Eddy Hale had 22 digs and Ramona Dusel had 19 assists, four blocks and two aces.
The team serving, according to Napoleon, was particularly impressive on Saturday night and the Eureka players had just two serving errors.
Violla Kingsang also impressed for the visitors and finished with 14 assists and 13 digs, as did Zuma Kan, who had five aces and 11 digs.

Elizabeth Rominger added three kills and Kaitlyn Whitehead chipped in two kills and a block.
“Kelseyville is a good team, they have great defense,” Napoleon said. “Kudos to their libero who seemed to always be in the right spot to dig our hits and their attackers for big swings.”
The Eureka coach was also happy with the way her players continued to battle and pushed the home team all the way in every set.
“We really gave it our all and never gave up,” she said. “This is a real special team and I feel lucky to have been a part of it.”
The game was the final one for the three Eureka seniors — Secor, Whitehead and Makenna McNamara — all three of whom have left their mark on the program.
“We appreciate their leadership and their part in making this team special,” Napoleon said. “Macy Secor, Kaitlynn Whitehead and Makenna McNamara thank you, and we wish them the best in their next chapter.”
