By Ray Hamill — The North Coast Section announced the field for the 2025 volleyball playoffs on Sunday, with five local teams included.
And all five schools will be in action on Wednesday night, including four in Humboldt County.
The highlight game of the opening round for local fans sees Big 5 rivals Eureka and Del Norte face off at Jay Willard Gymnasium.
After winning a first Big 5 crown in seven years, the Eureka girls received the No. 5 seed in the Division-4 bracket and will host the No. 12 Warriors.
Arcata and St. Bernard’s will also host opening-round games, while Ferndale will open on the road.
The Tigers were also included in the Division-4 bracket and are seeded No. 6.
They will host No. 11 Pinole Valley on Wednesday night.
As Little 4 champions, the St. Bernard’s girls received the No. 5 seed in Division 6 and they will open at home against No. 12 Brave Christian.
The Ferndale girls were also included in the Division-6 field and are seeded No. 12.
The Wildcats open on the road at No. 6 Cornerstone Christian.
All of Wednesday’s games are set for 7 p.m.
