By Ray Hamill — Local football fans will get a first opportunity to check out several of the H-DNL football teams at Saturday’s league jamboree.

Seven of the league’s nine varsity teams and most of the JV squads will be on hand at McKinleyville High with the action getting under way at 10 a.m.

The season kicks off the following weekend.

The teams at Mack will include all three defending conference champs — the Big 4’s Del Norte and the Little 4’s Arcata and Ferndale.

The jamboree will also include Hoopa, St. Bernard’s, Fortuna and Eureka.

The JV teams will get the day’s action started at 10 a.m., while the varsity teams will kick off their sessions at 12:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
