When the Crabs play the Lincoln Potters, the two clubs rarely disappoint.
And that was the case once again on Friday night in the opening game of a weekend series in Lincoln, which went down to the wire once again.
The Crabs pulled out a thrilling 5-3 win in 11 innings to end the Potters’ 14-game winning streak and hand them their first Pacific Empire League loss.
The two teams were tied 2-2 after nine innings and both scored a run in the 10th to remain deadlocked.
But the Crabs would score twice in the top of the 11th and made it stick, as they continue to navigate a challenging road trip well.
For the second straight year the Crabs were forced to open league play with six tough road games against PEL powerhouses Healdsburg and Lincoln.
But unlike last year, when they lost all six of those games to put themselves firmly behind the eight ball early in league play, the Crabs have split the opening four games of the road trip with two more games at Lincoln on Saturday and Sunday.
Timmy Reed, who drove in one of the two 11th-inning runs, led a six-hit team performance at the plate and finished 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk.
Liam Forsyth also had a double and an RBI, while Keenan Morris was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.
The former Eureka Logger has now hit successfully in six straight games and 12 of his last 13.
Enyart and Tyler Howard each also had a hit.
Enyart got the win on the mound in relief, throwing three hitless innings to close out the game and striking out one.
The victory was Enyart’s team-leading fourth of the summer, all of them coming in relief.
Enyart has pitched just 9.1 innings in total and is now 4-0.
Myles Standish got the start on the mound and pitched six solid innings for a no-decision, giving up seven hits and two walks and striking out six.
With the win, the Crabs improved to 2-2 in the PEL and 14-2 overall, while the Potters dropped to 1-1 and 16-2.
The two clubs will continue their weekend series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
