The 2025 Humboldt Crabs are proving to be an exciting team to watch early in the season.
On Wednesday night, they swept their third series of the season with a second walk-off win in four games.
The Crabs welcomed the Stockton Pearls to the Arcata Ball park and overturned a late deficit with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Sutter Moss drove in both late runs on a game-clinching double, scoring Keenan Morris and Kawana Soares for a 6-5 victory.
The win lifts the local collegiate summer club to 9-0 on the season.
After a comfortable 8-0 win over the Pearls on Tuesday night, the series finale was a lot closer.
With runs in each of the second, fourth and fifth innings, the Crabs carried a 3-1 lead into the seventh.
But the visitors would respond to make for an interesting finish, scoring a pair of runs in each of the seventh and ninth innings to take a 5-4 lead.
However, the home team answered the call in the bottom half of the ninth when Moss hit a two-out double with the bases loaded to secure the come-from-behind win.
The Crabs out-hit the visitors 14-5 but made three errors.
Moss’ late hit was one of four doubles for the team, with Soares, Cameron Sewell and Liam Forsyth each also hitting for extra bases.
Jacob Pappas led the way at the plate and finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Michael Perazzo, Soares, Sewell and Timmy Reed each had two hits.
With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Morris was hit by a pitch to get the rally started, and was quickly joined on base by Soares, who singled, and Sewell, who was also hit by a pitch.
Brody Jacobs got the start on the mound for the home team and threw four strong innings for a no-decision, giving up just one hit and two walks and striking out two.
Brock Lenhardt of College of the Redwoods threw three innings in relief, allowing three hits and no walks and striking out six.
Kayden Kohlberg (1.2 innings) and Adam Enyart (0.1 innings) also pitched in relief, with the latter capping a big week for the team with the win.
Enyart is enjoying an outstanding start to the summer season and leads the team in wins and home runs and is now 3-0 in three relief appearances, having pitched just 5.1 innings in total.
He also has four home runs in just 24 at-bats.
Next up, the Crabs will try to keep their fast start to the new season going when they host the AE Express in a three-game weekend series, beginning on Friday night.
First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
