There’s been no shortage of power at the plate for the Humboldt Crabs during the opening week of the season.

On Friday night, the Crabs welcomed the Fresno A’s to the Arcata Ball Park for the opening game of a weekend series and cruised to a 14-0 win.

The shutout was the team’s second straight and lifted Humboldt to 5-0.

Former Eureka Logger Myles Standish got the win on the mound, his second of the summer, and he got plenty of offensive support, including a pair of home runs.

Sutter Moss keyed a seven-run second inning with a grand slam and the home team never looked back after that.

The home run was the right fielder’s second of the season and he has hit successfully in four of his first five games with the team.

Left fielder Adam Enyart was even more impressive, hitting two home runs in the win, giving him three in his first four games with the team.

Standish, meanwhile, is off to a flying start with the Crabs this summer and is now 2-0.

The 2023 Eureka High graduate threw five strong innings, allowing just four hits and two walks and striking out seven.

The Crabs scored runs in each of the first four innings and led 11-0 going into the fifth.

They out-hit the A’s 13-5 and played error-free defense.

Another former Eureka Logger, Keenan Morris, also continued his impressive start to the new season.

Morris finished 3-for-5 with a double and a walk and scored a team-best three runs.

Moss also had a double, as did Liam Forsyth and Niko Lombardi.

The two clubs will continue their three-game weekend series on Saturday night, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.

They will close out the series on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
