The 2025 Redwood Acres Raceway season looks set to open with a bang this weekend.

The 78th season at the local raceway kicks off on Saturday, and opening night will feature the NorCal Legend Series, along with the Mid-City Motor World Late Models, limited modifieds, bombers and mini stocks.

In only its third season of competition, the NorCal Legend Series has already established itself as one of the top touring series in the west.

Locals competing in the series this season included defending series champion Brandon White, as well as Landen Green and Tyler Krupa, all of whom will be going up against some of the best Legends drivers in the region.

Sebastopol’s Cody Winchel currently leads Kai Lovell of Ukiah by 17 points in the series’ point standings.

The NorCal Legends have averaged a 38-car turnout between the series’ first three events of the year, and a similar car count is expected for Saturday.

Chase Burgeson and Cole Brown were the winners of the split-main event races at Stockton 99 Speedway on March 29.

Winchel was victorious at Ukiah Speedway on April 19, while Robby Czub won the series’ most recent race at Shasta Speedway on May 3.

But that’s not all local fans can expect this weekend.

Mid-City Motor World will be presenting all the late model action at the Acres in 2025, with top local drivers including multi-time track champion Brandon Barnwell and Luke Hall expected to appear.

A busy Hall will also be behind the wheel of a limited modified on Saturday night.

It will be the first of two limited modified races for the season.

The division is very similar to the touring series modifieds, including the North State and Upstate Modified Series, which have raced at the Acres in recent years.

Pre-sale tickets for Saturday’s action are available at Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, JC Auto in Fortuna and McKinleyville Barbershop in McKinleyville.

Redwood Acres Raceway officials encourage race fans to take advantage of the discount ticket prices at the local businesses.

Tickets are also available on RacinTheAcres.com.

An open practice is scheduled for Friday from 5 p.m. to dark.

On Saturday, grandstands open at 3:30 p.m. with racing starting at 5.
