The annual Blue Herron Humboldt Regatta will highlight a busy few days for Cal Poly Humboldt sports here on the North Coast.

The annual event, which is held on the Humboldt Bay, is the only home event of the season for the Lumberjacks rowing team.

The action gets under way at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The regatta is one of three events the Jacks are hosting this weekend.

Also in action for the Jacks, the softball team is scheduled to play a pair of doubleheaders and the university track and field team, which features several locals on the roster, will host a meet, also on Saturday.

The softball team is scheduled to play Cal State San Marcos on Friday and Saturday, with two games scheduled for each day.

The action gets under way on Friday at 1 p.m. and on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Jacks are 19-14 overall and 8-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The weekend games will likely take place at the Bear River Sports Complex.

The CPH track and field team, meanwhile, will host the Cal Poly Humboldt Invite at the Redwood Bowl on Saturday.
