Wild Cactus continue to roll at Eagles tourney, advance to Sunday’s final

It’s been a good first week ever for the newly-formed Wild Cactus Baseball 19U baseball team.

On Saturday afternoon, Wild Cactus made it three wins from three games at the Humboldt Eagles 19U tournament to qualify for Sunday’s championship game.

Wild Cactus defeated the Colts Black team 4-3.

Brody Tomlin got the start on the mound and threw five solid innings for a no-decision, allowing three runs on five walks and striking out four.

Michael Jewell got the win in relief.

The Eureka Loggers standout threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk and striking out two.

McKinleyville’s Kolbey Stolpe led the offense and came up clutch in the game, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and driving in what would be the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

Cayden Lee also had a good game at the plate as he continues to impress for Wild Cactus, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Later in the day Wild Cactus lost to the Humboldt Eagles 8-0 but they had already guaranteed themselves a place in Sunday’s decider, which will take place at Belotti Field across form the Redwood Acres at 2:30 p.m.
