The College of the Redwoods sophomores will look to close out a perfect career home record when they play their final regular season game on Wednesday night.

After a record-setting performance in a 94-72 win over Lassen at CR on Saturday, the Corsairs will host Shasta on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

And while a fourth straight Golden Valley Conference championship is out of reach, the seven sophomores are hoping to go out with a win to secure a rare undefeated home career.

The class includes Trey Neff, Ty Neff, Kai Purcell, Jett Cheong, Mason Railsback, Garrett Hall and Lucq Anderson, none of whom have ever lost a game at CR.

On Saturday, the talented class moved within one win of achieving that impressive feat with a victory in their second-to-last home game.

Railsback, who has been one of the team’s most impressive players down the stretch of the season, scored a team-high 21 points in the win, while Trey Neff added 20 points and Ty Neff finished with 11 points.

CR set a new program record in the win, finishing with 34 assists, the most ever in a game, on 37 field goals.

The Redwoods men took control of the game in the opening half and led 51-40 at the break.

They made an impressive 15 3-pointers in the win, including 11 in the first half.

“This was a pretty quintessential performance of all the basketball values we try to project,” head coach Ryan Bisio said. “Ball movement, shooting, toughness and creativity. It was all there on display.”

Mason Mottashed added 11 points for CR, which improved to 6-3 in conference and 16-11 overall.

“Lassen shot the ball well in the first half and were making some really tough shots,” Bisio aded. “To our guys’ credit, they stayed emotionally stable, and once those shots started missing we were ready to rebound and go have fun in transition.

“Mason Mottashed’s imprint on the game in the first half was very pronounced, and Mason Railsback’s ability to put heat on the rim broke Lassen’s back in that second half.”

Anderson hit a big 3 right at the end of the first half to give his team some momentum going into the break.

“Those type of plays can have such a dramatic ripple effect in the overall fabric of a game,” Bisio said.

Wednesday’s game will be played as part of a doubleheader with the CR women’s team, with the women tipping off at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7.
