The South Fork Cubs honored their seniors before a big non-league victory over Averroes in Miranda on Saturday afternoon.

The Cubs won the game 52-8 to end a four-game losing streak and improved to 9-9 on the season.

Before the game, the team recognized both of their seniors — Caidence Young and Cloe McConnell — each of whom has played a key role for the team this season.

And that continued to be the case on Saturday.

Young scored a game-high 13 points in the win, while McConnell finished with 11 points.

“They both had awesome showings in this afternoon’s game,” South Fork head coach Rebecca Robles said.

So too did the Cubs defense, which held the visitors to just two points in the opening half.

All nine South Fork player scored in the win.

In addition to the big contributions from the two seniors, Raevyn Reveles scored six points, while Arianna Trigonis and Karalyn Worsick each added five points.

Aubrey Young also scored four points, while Raelyn Hawkins and Scarlett Robles each added three points and Makenzie Brewer chipped in two points to round out the team scoring.

Next up, the Cubs will play at Ferndale in a Little 4 game on Tuesday.
