The Six Rivers Basketball Officials Association (SRBOA) its looking for a new assignor for the upcoming 2023/24 high school season after Mike Harvey resigned from the position this offseason.

According to a press release announcing the news, interested applicants should possess the following:
Familiarity with basketball and the ability to assign referees to games at appropriate skill levels.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to correspond professionally via email and phone calls to schools, coaches and official’s inquiries.
High level of computer/technical knowledge – utilizing scheduling software, e-mail program.
Have own internet connection, computer, and phone.
Basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge.

…and with all that work, considering the scheduling snafus and other oddities, volunteer days for free are over…
…so, how much does the assignor receive in stipend? Ya can’t expect people today to do stuff for free… and refs…it is counterintuitive to not pay refs similarly to paychecks…devising these silly contracts with refs such that refs forego payment until after the season is over only inhibits recruitment efforts…
C’mon people, refs pay bills too… and after spending all that money on equipment required just to ref, it is not reasonable to wait until season’s end to pay refs…
These non-profit sports leagues are foot-shooters…
Pay assignors more, high schools are headaches for scheduling…
