The bats continued to produce for the Humboldt Crabs this week, as they comfortably swept a two-game midweek series against the Fresno A’s at the Arcata Ball Park.
The Crabs won 7-0 on Tuesday night and followed that with a 16-7 win on Wednesday.
With the two victories, the Crabs maintained their unbeaten start to the season and improved to 9-0.
They had 10 hits in Tuesday’s win, in a game that saw the visitors commit seven errors.
Jaden Shabry led the way for the Crabs and finished 3-for-4 with a double and a run, while former Fortuna Husky Daniel Osborne continued his impressive start to the season and was 2-for-4 with a run.
Jason Arriola also had a double in the win, while Kawana Soares drove in two runs.
Arcata’s Ben Lukens got the start on the mound and threw 5.1 strong innings for the win.
The 2025 Arcata High graduate gave up four hits and no walks and struck out seven.
The Crabs continued to roll on Wednesday night, overcoming a pair of early one-run deficits with six runs in the bottom of the second inning, and they led the remainder of the way.
Alex Harrington had a huge day at the plate in the lead-off spot, finishing 4-for-5 with two doubles, a walk, three RBIs and two runs.
Osborne continued to have a hot bat, finishing 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and three RBIs.
In eight appearances this season, the 2022 Fortuna graduate is batting .379 with 12 RBIs.
The hard-hitting Crabs had seven hits go for extra bases, including triples from Jamie Mullin and Soares.
Former Arcata High and College of the Redwoods player Miles Oliver got the start on the hill and threw 3.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and four walks.
McKinleyville’s Jackson Kelly threw three innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on five hits and no walks and striking out three.
Arcata High’s Tanner Kees debuted with the team and got his first hit of the summer, finishing 1-for-2.
The Crabs have now scored double digits in runs in seven of their nine games this summer.
Next up, the Crabs will host the Rocklin Stonecutters in a three-game series this weekend, with game one set for Friday night, before they hit the road for the first time this summer next week, traveling to Lincoln to play the Potters in a three-game series.
