Division battles heat up as RAR season begins to wind down

With just four weekends of racing action remaining in the 2023 Redwood Acres Raceway season, at least one division remains wide open.

Racing returns to the local track this weekend, the first of two scheduled race nights for August.

And after more than a month in between their races, the late model drivers will be itching to get back on the track.

They also have plenty to compete for, with Brandon Barnwell and Luke Hall currently deadlocked for the lead in the race for the season championship with 154 points apiece.

The Legends, bombers and mini stocks will also be in action this Saturday night.

With four race nights remaining, Tyler Krupa appears to be in control of the Legends division.

Krupa took the checkered flag at the most recent event in late July and almost doubled his lead in the season standings.

Landon Green is the driver best positioned to catch the leader, but trails by 13 points, with Tyler Avelar six points further adrift.

In the bombers division, Doug Way holds a healthy 30-point lead in the season standings despite a blown engine in the most recent event.

Jordan Krupa is second in the race for the championship, with Kadence Toland in third.

In the mini stocks, meanwhile, the impressive Gary Klinetobe appears to be cruising towards a championship and holds a remarkable 73-point advantage over the field.

Cole Peterson is second, followed by Colton Kinsey, who is just one point further back in what is shaping up to be an exciting battle for second.

Tickets for Saturday’s races are currently available on RacinTheAcres.com and can also be purchased at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna.

Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day.
