The Humboldt Crabs overcame a late deficit with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as they opened a three-game weekend series against the Bay Area Admirals with a 6-4 win at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night.
The Crabs, who out-hit the visitors 10-4, trailed 4-2 before the late rally.
Luke Reece had a big night at the plate and was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, while Colby Lunsford was 2-for-4 with a double and also drove in a run.
Peyton Miller and Andrew Crane each also had two hits in the win, including a triple by the latter.
Alejandro Huezo pitched seven innings for the victory on the mound.
The UC Davis pitcher gave up just two hits and a walk to the Admirals and struck out 13.
Diamond Loosli closed out the game and recorded the save.
With the win, which was their 13th in 14 games, the Crabs improved to 24-6.
The two clubs will play again on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., before concluding the weekend series on Sunday, with first pitch set for 12:30 p.m.
