The Humboldt Eagles 19Us face an uphill battle to keep their postseason going after a heartbreaking 12-11 loss to Yolo Post 77 at the American Legion Area Tournament in Fairfield on Friday.

The loss drops the Eagles to 0-2 in pool play with one game remaining and they will now need to beat Napa Valley by eight runs on Saturday to advance to Sundays’ semifinals.

The Eagles led big late in the game and held an eight-run advantage when head coach Matt Tomlin went deep to his bench to get some game time for as many of his players as possible.

The victory keeps them in contention to advance from pool play.

Vance took the loss on the mound, giving up nine runs in 6.2 innings.

The Eagles will play Napa Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday looking a miracle finish.
