By Ray Hamill — In the end there were no playoff games needed to finalize next week’s Dick Niclai Tournament schedule, with all four local leagues crowning outright champions.
The highly anticipated H-DN postseason tournament gets under way on Monday night and will run for five straight days, culminating with a doubleheader of championship games at Lumberjack Arena on Friday.
All nine local H-DN schools that play varsity basketball will be represented.
The H-DN boys get things started with two opening-round matchups on Monday featuring Nos. 2 and 3 seeds from the Big 5 and Little 4.
Fortuna will travel to McKinleyville and St. Bernard’s will host Ferndale, with the winners advancing to Wednesday’s semifinals.
Both of Monday’s games are set for 7 p.m.
The girls tip off on Tuesday night, with McKinleyville traveling to Del Norte and Ferndale hosting Hoopa.
Both of these games are also set for 7 p.m., with the winners advancing to Thursday’s semifinals.
All four semifinals will be played at College of the Redwoods, with doubleheaders on back-to-back nights.
The four league champions each received a first-round bye and will join the action in the semifinals.
The winner of the Fortuna/Mack boys game will play South Fork on Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by the winner of the Ferndale/SB game against Arcata at 7:30 p.m.
The winner of the Mack/Del Norte girls game will play St. Bernard’s on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by the winner of the Hoopa/Ferndale game and Eureka at 7:30 p.m.
Friday’s championship games will be played at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys).

Any chance these games will be televised or on the radio?
