The Cal Poly Humboldt men’s rugby team will play for a national championship for the second time in the club’s history.

On Friday, the Jacks defeated Endicott College by a score of 41-28 in the semifinals in Houston to advance to Sunday’s National Collegiate Rugby Small Schools championship game.

The win was the sixth in six games this season for the Jacks, including their third straight in the postseason.

This will be the second time in the club’s 49-year history that they have reached a national championship.

In 2005, Humboldt qualified for the Division-II decider, narrowly falling to Northern Colorado in a thrilling championship showdown at Stanford.

The championship game will take place on Sunday at 11 a.m. Pacific time and will be streamed live.

Humboldt will play either Wayne State or Catholic in the championship, with the second semifinal scheduled for later on Friday.

  1. So, the Jacks only played 3 regular season matches this season? 🤷‍♂️🤔

  2. Good job boys!!

Cal Poly Humboldt should reward your efforts by making rugby an official school sport, and allow them to play in the Redwood Bowl.
