What’s next on the schedule for H-DNL teams?

Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The St. Bernard’s Crusaders will host the Hoopa Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

By Ray Hamill — Eight of the nine H-DNL varsity teams will be in action again this week, as some try to build on an impressive start and others try to bounce back.

Del Norte and Hoopa were arguably the most impressive local teams on opening weekend and both will be looking to build on the early momentum in tough matchups this weekend.

Del Norte scored 10 touchdowns in a 71-13 victory over Kelseyville and will travel to the Bay Area this week to play Piedmont on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Highlanders are 0-1 after a 27-20 loss to Seaside.

The Hoopa Warriors, meanwhile, look like they will be the team to beat in the Little 4 after a dominating 41-0 shutout victory at South Fork on opening night.

The Warriors will travel to play St. Bernard’s on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. kickoff, and they look well equipped to take on the Big 4 powerhouse.

The Crusaders are coming off a tough 33-7 loss to St. Vincent de Paul and won’t be taking the Warriors lightly.

The Eureka Loggers also looked impressive in their opener — a 30-0 win over Arcata — and will have a bye this week.

The Tigers, meanwhile, will try to bounce back on Saturday night when they host a Sutter team that is 2-0 after outscoring its first two opponents 69-14.

The game is set for 7 p.m. at McKinleyville High.

Ferndale and Fortuna will also try to bounce back from opening weekend losses on Friday night.

With the exception of some costly special teams errors, the Wildcat impressed against a quality Fall River program in their opener, despite losing 30-20

The Cats will look to get their first win when they travel to South Fork to play their old Little 4 rivals for the first time since 2016.

The Huskies, meanwhile, fell 41-19 on the road against a quality University team in their opener and will try to respond when they travel to play Justin-Siena.

The Braves are 0-1 after falling 28-0 to St. Helena in their opener.

The McKinleyville Panthers will also be in action this Friday after an opening weekend bye and will host Anderson at 7:30 p.m.

Anderson is 0-1.
