The Humboldt Crabs opened a weekend series against Seals Baseball with an 8-0 win at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night.

The shutout was the second straight for the Crabs, who stretched their winning streak to six straight and are now 29-10 on the summer.

Nick Leehey hit a solo home run to key a four-run first inning, as the Crabs struck early once again to take control of the game.

And that was all pitchers Kelan Scanlan and Ethan Brown would need, with the two combining for a one-hitter.

Scanlan pitched six innings for the win, allowing one hit and three walks and striking out eight.

Brown did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out eight in three innings in relief.

Tyler Davis hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season, while Leehey, Aaron Perez and KevinFitzwer each added a double.

McKinleyville’s Cameron Saso was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

The two teams will continue their weekend series on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., before concluding on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
